Planting a new vineyard…
Today I have just 1 hectare of vines in the Beaujolais Village appellation. Demand is high, and I do not have enough wine to satisfy. Hence, I want to enlarge my Beaujolais Villages vineyard.
I am asking you for your support, to help me finance planting my vineyard in the Beaujolais Villages appellation in 2019. Your contribution will help me pay for the vines and the trellising.
… on a site of great potential
The parcel of Beaujolais Villages that I will plant is called Moulin Méziat. It is in the village of Lancié bordering Moulin à Vent. It is one of the most beautiful terroirs of the Beaujolais Villages with rocky soil from very old alluvial deposits. This poor, granite soil is ideal for the cultivation of Gamay, which on these soils expresses itself in the most beautiful way.
I had the opportunity to begin work on this site in 2015. It was uncultivated for many years and has received no conventional treatments, therefore it will be immediately ready for organic certification..
I would like to utilise high density planting techniques (9000 plants / hectare). Thus, the vines compete with each other, encouraging them to produce small grapes with concentrated aromas and tannins.
I have the ambition to produce great Beaujolais Villages of terroir on this plot of Moulin Méziat.
Here is the estimated cost of planting the vineyard excluding labor costs:
Planting: 11,800 vines at 1.60€ / plant = 18,880€
Trellising: 1.3 hectares to 20 000€ / ha = 26,000€
