Richard: the passion of a Vigneron

I come from a winemaking family in Chablis. After finishing my engineering degree in agriculture in 1999, I left to train abroad. I worked in winemaking in New Zealand, South Africa and California. In 2002, I came back to France to work in the vineyards of Côtes du Ventoux. In 2003, I met my partner Corinne near Lyon and I began work in a prestigious area of Beaujolais. I spent 3 years here and I fell in love with Beaujolais and the Gamay varietal.

Working a vineyard organically was an essential part of my development, not only in respect to the environment but also witnessing such quality of wine.

Today the 7 hectares of my domaine are all farmed organically. The vines are beautiful, healthy and produce the finest grapes, from which I am able to make elegant and well-balanced wines.

I hope that tomorrow, with my work and your support, I can produce a great Beaujolais Villages of terroir on my parcel of Moulin Méziat.

Déja associé à plusieurs GFV en Bourgogne, j'avais vraiment envie de mieux connaitre les jeunes vignerons du Beaujolais. Le label Bio a été décisif sur mon choix du Domaine Richard Rottiers. Dans l'atetnte du plaisir de rencontrer le vigneron.

Le Beaujolais étant un vignoble en devenir au niveau médiatique et déjà investi par certains Bourguignons, il est heureux que les autochtones puissent jouirent de leur terre avant que cela ne devienne trop onéreux. Qui plus est, en bio. Vive le Beaujolais ! Florian (journaliste pro au Paysan Vigneron à Cognac)
