WHAT THE EXPERTS THINK

STÉPHANE DERENONCOURT

CONSULTANT AROUND THE WORLD

"Olivia and Didier Le Calvez approached me in 2008 and explained their plan to buy a vineyard in Bordeaux.

The message was clear the most important thing was to find a vineyard capable of producing unique quality wines.
*After visiting several properties for sale without success, we finally found the perfect spot on the Saint-Emilion limestone plateau. It was at this point that we agreed to launch the Chateau Clarisse project, named after their first daughter. Plots of land luckily went up for sale allowing Chateau Clarisse to grow to its current size.

A bright future awaits Chateau Clarisse, thanks to their careful soil management, the incredible quality of the wine and their organic certification.”

NEAL MARTIN FOR ROBERT PARKER :
Château Clarisse Vieilles Vignes – Puisseguin-Saint-Emilion – 2015
90-92 - The 2015 Clarisse Vieilles Vignes is the sixth vintage from the 3.5-hectare part of the vineyard and is pure Merlot aged in 50% new oak. It has a ripe and powerful bouquet, a touch of warmth coming through, but not too over-powering. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin, powerful and forceful, though kept in check by the acidity; it is a little muscular towards the lightly spiced finish with a long, baking-powder tinged finish. Impressive. Drink 2020-2036

NEAL MARTIN FOR ROBERT PARKER :
Château Clarisse – Puisseguin-Saint-Emilion – 2015 : 90-92
The 2015 Clarisse is a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, of which one-third is matured in new oak. There is plenty of sultry black cherry and mulberry fruit on the nose that gains intensity in the glass and neatly embraces the wood. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannin, a little spice and ginger on the entry, followed by grainy-textured red and black fruit with touches of Moroccan spice lining the finish. What a superb Puisseguin.

«Serious […] Dense […] Fantastic»

James Suckling : 94-95 “This shows real depth and power with so much vine bark, mushroom and currant aromas and flavors. Full and chewy. Excellent. Old vine wine that is truly a dream. Best ever.”

Château Clarisse – Puisseguin-Saint-Emilion – 2015
James Suckling : 92-93 Very intense with salt, pepper and stone. Plenty of ripe fruit. Full body, powerful. Fantastic.
